It was such an immense pleasure to finally have tea together in Paris with my friend Sibel Pinto , author of her acclaimed book “Kashkarikas: Wasteless kitchen-A Turkish Sephardi Chef’s recipes and stories “. We shared our passion for our Sephardic ancestral cuisine we inherited from our mothers of Turkish descent and explored with my daughter Monique how best we can perpetuate our home cooking for her generation. It was even more special that my grandson was there on a program to learn French and cooking with Putney and could meet her. Exchanging family memories and culinary anecdotes from our diverse Rhodesli and Turkish backgrounds was so heartwarming. Sibel and I hope we can savor our traditional Turkish coffee and our beloved masapan as we cook together soon.
