Cabbage Leaves Stuffed with Meat, Rice & Herbs


Yaprakes are the popular stuffed grape leaves made especially in the summer when the leaves are plentiful in the Mediterranean. For the winter version the humble cabbage leaves are also stuffed with ground veal or beef and rice, fragrant with fresh herbs and aromatic with allspice or cumin. This hearty meal may be prepared a day in advance for the delicious flavors to meld overnight.
